My favorite part of the trip was the three dives Paul and I did together. I have never done a warm water dive before so I was enormously thrilled that all I needed to wear for diving in the Cancun sea was just my swimsuit. We did our first two dives sequentially and then went on a snorkeling tour with Erick and Becca two hours after. I have never been more tired in my life! Our first dive was 60 ft. under water and we got to swim through a cave. Our second dive was only 25 ft. deep, but we got to see a ton more marine life because of the coral reefs and the light. It was gorgeous! We didn't get much footage of either of those dives because Paul had the gopro strapped to his chest and all you could see was the sandy bottom on the first dive and on the second dive the gopro froze.
Paul and I had to practically force Becca and Erick to go snorkeling. Neither of them seemed that interested until we got out there and they actually did it. Our snorkeling guide took us to almost the same spot we dove. Except for Erick swallowing too much salt water and throwing up, they had a great time and we were able to see quite a bit of marine life.
We finally spotted a turtle while snorkeling and I got so excited that I tried chasing him to get a good picture and didn't realize I had swam into super shallow water. A big wave came and threw me into a coral reef and I ended up cutting up my whole thigh, ankle, and butt cheek. When I got back on the boat, I was bleeding pretty bad and the guide yelled me a lecture. It was totally worth it to see the turtle though, not going to lie.
Day One and then Day Two after my coral accident:
Mine and Paul's last dive was a 90 ft. deep shipwreck dive of an old mine sweeper. It was the absolute highlight of the trip. The ship was purposely sunk to create a reef for marine life. It was completely covered in coral and after another lecture from the guide about me not touching the coral he informed us that we would be able to swim through the entire ship. Before we even got to the bottom, we saw a two stingrays swim up from the bottom. Fish of all shapes, colors, and sizes were everywhere! It was an incredible experience to partake in. I even saw a barracuda! Because of how deep we were we only got to stay under for 25 minutes, which was way too short. Before I knew it it was over. Luckily, Paul got the entire dive on video and even a couple awesome candid shots with the gopro. I really hope to do more dives like this one in the future.
